What many consumers do not know: The term Natural Cosmetics is not protected. Basically, each manufacturer can develop its own guidelines for natural cosmetics and certify its products. And many manufacturers are too happy to give their products a green image although their ingredients are anything but purely natural.
We wanted a credible certification for our products and after evaluating standards from around the world decided to cooperate with Ecocert. The strict guidelines of this certification body for sustainable development guarantee that certified products are indeed purely natural and not only greenwashed. After all, we want our customers to be able to trust in our products’ quality, integrity and pureness.
Ecocert was the very first certification body to develop standards for natural and organic cosmetics. Headquartered in France and represented in more than 200 regions and countries worldwide, it has grown to become Europe’s leading inspection and certification body in the environmental sector. In cooperation with experts from the cosmetics sector, consumers and leading industry and government representatives, Ecocert in 2002 has developed a standard for natural and organic cosmetics that is continuously oriented towards technological progress and changing legal regulations.
The basic principles of the Ecocert standard for natural and organic cosmetics:
In order to obtain the Ecocert certification „ORGANIC COSMETIC“ that all of our Belle & Fleurelle products bear, a minimum of 95% of all plant-based ingredients in the formula and a minimum of 10% of all ingredients by weight must come from organic farming. The quality, purity and naturalness of our products are crucially important to us and we are proud that we did not only reach the required 10% but were able to achieve an organic content of up to 67%.
